This page is devoted to give a brief introduction about the missionaries at ICM who are in Japan to obey the call in Mathew 28:19-20 to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..."

 • John & Yasuko Blocksom

Both John and Yasuko were raised in Japan. John as the third son of James and Barbara Blocksom and Yasuko as a native-born Japanese. They are now ministering at the Kyoto International Chapel, teaching English and Sunday School and playing guitar in the worship team. They live in the Kyoto Prefecture, near the church. They have three children.

 
 • Pat & Betty Kwan

Patrick and Betty Kwan have been serving at Ikoma International Chapel since 1993. Currently, they are involved with various ministries: youth, music, literature, Sunday School, building maintenance, and women's outreach. They have a burden to nurture and build up the body of believers and their children.

Bible passage that describes their calling: '.... striving... to present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.' (from Col. 1:28-29)

Presently, they live in Ikoma, Nara and Patrick teaches at the Osaka YMCA College to support their family of 6.

Patrick is from San Francisco, California and first came to Japan in 1989. He became a Christian through the ministry of ICM and felt God's call to stay on and join the ministry. Betty grew up as a missionary kid in Japan, daughter of James and Barbara Blocksom, and felt God's leading to serve as a missionary with ICM upon graduation from University of Idaho.

 
 • Paul & Vanessa Miller
Paul and Vanessa Miller have been serving with ICM as tent-making missionaries in various capacities.  At present Paul works as a teacher for the educational arm of ICM, Kyoto International University and Academy.  He is also a member of Ikoma Chapel’s worship team.  Vanessa coordinates the outreach English conversation program at Ikoma Chapel and helps with the mid-week bi-monthly English program for ladies.

With their three children, now all in their teens, Paul and Vanessa distribute literature and enjoy various kinds of personal work at Ikoma Chapel and in their home.

 
 • Steve & Jemi Rohrer

Rohrers Steve is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA. He and his wife, Jemi, came to Japan in 1988 to work as English teachers at the YMCA International High School. While there, they felt God's call to work with ICM, and joined in 1990.

Steve is the the vice-principal at KIU Academy. Steve resigned from his position as a pastor in April 2008 to focus on his work at KIU Academy. He continues to serve at International Chapels as an ICM missionary. Steve and Jemi and their five children live in Kizugawa city.

 • Trey Rowzie

Trey RowzieTrey followed a call to Japan in 2002. Before he lived in Louisiana working the IT industry.  Now, he is a vocational missionary with ICM. In other words, Trey works at Kyoto International University and uses his time outside of the office to advance the Gospel in the Kyoto area.

Encouraging Bible Passage: Psalms 113; especially verse 2 and 3...
"Let the name of the LORD be praised, both now and forevermore.
From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised."

 • Haroldo & Joelle Simoes

Haroldo & Joelle SimoesHaroldo (Harry) is from Brazil, and Joelle has been raised in Japan. Harry came to Japan as a scholarship student in 1997, converted to following Christ thanks to the ICM work in Japan and has been studying/working/serving in the church in Japan ever since. Joelle is now an expectant mother, and serves as Fellowship Leader for the girls youth group at Ikoma Chapel. Harry and Joelle have been married since July 2005.

 
 • Debby Sukita

Debby is from the Island of Oahu. She was born and raised in Hawaii. Debby’s family was originally Buddhist but God saved Debby and her twin sister, Sandy, in their college years. Over a period of time, the Lord graciously saved her parents, two older sisters and grandmother. Debby sensed God calling her to become a missionary while studying at the University of Idaho with Betty Kwan and Jon Goss. She later came to Japan to work with ICM. Debby has been serving the Lord at chapel for the past 13 years.

One of God’s promises, Psalm 139:9-10 “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your Hand will guide me, Your Right Hand will hold me fast”, has been a continual encouragement to Debby during her time in Japan - the Land of the “Rising Son”.

 
 • Mark & Maki Wolter

Mark & Maki WolterMark came to Japan from Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 2000 as a missionary with the Navigators. In 2002, he was called into church establishing/ planting ministry with ICM and to ministry to young people. In 2005, Mark married his best friend, Maki. Their son, Noah was born in 2007.

As a family, the Wolter's enjoy hosting college students as well as leading Bible studies at their home. During the week Mark enjoys teaching from a Biblical world-view at ICM's Christian bi-llingual school, Kyoto International University and Academy.
